PlacesToStay helps you choose a base for a trip across the UK, with the beauty of each place as the starting point. We connect the setting that draws you in with practical advice about choosing a base.
How our guides work
Our current destination guides include researched base comparisons, trip plans and accommodation shortlists, with sources and review dates. Regional guides help you choose between places; town and village guides look more closely at the base itself. Property information comes from linked official sources, with the review date on each card. We have not stayed in or inspected these properties. Our researched shortlists do not supply live prices or availability, and we do not take bookings. Where a partner map appears, its listings, prices and ratings are supplied by that partner.
Thoughtful recommendations
We choose shortlist entries to illustrate different locations and practical needs, rather than rank properties from best to worst. Official website links earn us no commission, and no payment has been received for inclusion. We check factual claims against operator sources and ask visitors to confirm their exact requirements directly. Property photographs will be added only when we have suitable usage rights.
Affiliate information
We may earn commission when you book through our partner links or accommodation maps. Booking.com links are supplied through CJ; accommodation maps are supplied by Stay22. These commercial sections are labelled Advertisement. Our editorial shortlists are independently researched, and map listings are supplied separately by the provider. Official website links are not affiliate links. We do not receive payment for inclusion in our researched shortlists.

PlacesToStay.org.uk is operated by UKC LABS LTD, registered in England and Wales, company number 15229367. Registered office: 86-90 Paul Street, London, EC2A 4NE.
Your privacy
We count public page views and Booking.com link clicks using our own server logs, without visitor tracking cookies or identifiers. These statistics record aggregate activity, not unique people. We do not run an automatic affiliate link replacement script or take bookings. On our guides, the Stay22 accommodation map loads as you scroll towards it. Your browser then connects to Stay22 and its map providers, which process data under their own privacy and cookie policies. The map may also be opened using its separate link. Search runs in your browser. If you choose a Booking.com affiliate link, our server records the click and redirects your browser to CJ to attribute the referral, then Booking.com. Those services process the click under their own privacy and cookie policies. We include a guide and placement reporting label, not a visitor identifier, and do not load their tracking pixels or scripts on our pages. See CJ privacy information and Booking.com privacy information. Our hosting server records routine access and error logs, including IP addresses and requested pages, for security and operation. Logs rotate daily and are retained for up to 14 rotations. We do not use them for advertising or visitor profiling.
Contact messages
When you use our contact or advertising enquiry form, we use your name, email address and message to handle your enquiry and reply where needed. Advertising enquiries also include your business or property name, website, location, advertising interest and selected package so we can assess suitability and discuss opportunities. We validate website addresses but do not automatically visit submitted links. Messages are delivered through Resend to our email inbox hosted by Google. Your email address is used as the Reply-To address. These providers process your message to deliver and store email. We do not add you to a marketing list, publish your message or keep a separate submissions database. Our form service does not log message contents; messages remain in our email systems while needed to handle and follow up your enquiry. Contact-page visits appear in ordinary server logs, and your IP address is used temporarily to limit abusive submissions. Please avoid sending sensitive information.
