More about staying near Anfield

Anfield is a neighbourhood stadium in north Liverpool, so a football weekend needs a planned match-day transfer. Central Liverpool makes Hope Street and the Georgian Quarter part of the stay; Stanley Dock offers a warehouse-hotel alternative north of the main waterfront. Neither choice is a room beside the ground. Pick the Liverpool evening you want, then arrange the route to Anfield around the match or tour booking.

FIND YOUR BASE

Choose a base for Anfield

Stanley Dock

Stanley Dock offers a warehouse-hotel setting north of the central waterfront. Choose it for time at the hotel and a different dockside evening.

Good for: A football occasion with a distinctive dockside stay.

Before you choose: It is separate from Royal Albert Dock and from Anfield; both outings require their own route.

Liverpool city centre

The centre lets you combine the match with the Georgian Quarter and Royal Albert Dock. Build the transfer north into the event day.

Good for: A two-night football and city break.

Before you choose: Hope Street and the docks are not at Anfield, however convenient the wider Liverpool address sounds.

Make it your kind of break

ROMANTIC BREAKS

Make the first evening different

Hope Street and the Georgian Quarter offer a city evening before the football focus, with the waterfront kept for the following day.

FAMILY BREAKS

Choose the tour day carefully

For families coming mainly for the club experience, a pre-booked tour on an available day may be the main outing. Keep luggage away from the tour entrance.

A LITTLE ROOM TO EXPLORE

A short stay around Anfield

Enjoy a Georgian Quarter evening before the Anfield visit and leave the central waterfront for the following day.

  1. Arrive in the Georgian Quarter

Settle into your base and spend the evening around Hope Street, with time to arrange the next day's stadium transfer.

  2. Give Anfield the day

Attend the booked match or reserved stadium tour, leaving the build-up and entry period clear.

  3. Finish at Royal Albert Dock

Take a waterfront stroll among the dock warehouses before departure, keeping time to collect luggage from the actual hotel district.

Less time? For a one-night match trip, retain Anfield and one Liverpool meal; omit the waterfront detour if the train connection is tight.

BEFORE YOU CHOOSE

A few useful details

Is there a railway station at Anfield?

The stadium is not a mainline rail arrival point. Merseyrail's match-day Soccerbus connects Sandhills station with Anfield; Stagecoach also operates the 917 between central Liverpool and the ground.

Will those match-day buses run for a stadium tour?

Do not assume so. Soccerbus is advertised for match days. A non-match-day museum or tour visit needs the normal transport plan for the actual date.

Can I take my suitcase on a stadium tour?

No. Liverpool FC's tour help page excludes large bags and suitcases and says there is no luggage storage at Anfield. Arrange storage before setting out from the hotel.

Why allow extra time at the turnstiles?

Liverpool FC introduced searches for all adults and asks match-going supporters to arrive earlier than their former routine. Leave room for the entry process instead of scheduling a meal to finish at kick-off.

Is Stanley Dock the same as Royal Albert Dock?

No. Titanic Hotel is at Stanley Dock north of the central waterfront. Royal Albert Dock is a separate destination; neither should be treated as a stadium-side address.
