After returning, use Keyhaven’s marsh-edge setting for a short waterside stop or give Lymington Quay time before departure. Keep the ferry return, tides and weather ahead of this optional leg.
Less time? For one night, keep the crossing and Tudor keep as the sole main outing, then return to your chosen base; leave the wider Solent coast for another visit.

No. Hurst Marine says there is no visitor vehicle access. Use the Keyhaven ferry, with parking by Keyhaven harbour, or walk about two miles along the shingle spit from the Milford seafront side.
No. The operator says the east wing is completely closed after the 2021 wall collapse, and several west-wing casemates are closed during foundation stabilisation. The Tudor keep and other open areas remain the focus of the visit.
The operator says ordinary ferry tickets are bought on the day, not pre-booked. Departures and capacity vary with weather, tides and passenger numbers, so settle the return plan before leaving Keyhaven.
The operator describes the walk as about two miles on shingle and says buggies are difficult to push. Choose the ferry if that terrain does not suit your group, while recognising ferry operation is tide and weather dependent.
Hurst Marine lists a 2026 season to 1 November, then closure from 2 November to 25 March 2027. A winter coastal stay can still use Milford and Keyhaven, but should not promise castle entry.
