If staying in Orford, locate the Quay and Riverside car park. From Aldeburgh, plan the next morning’s journey south and your check-in time.
Check in at the Quay office, take your booked Octavia sailing and follow the marked reserve routes. Make the radar exhibition, marshes and shingle the day’s focus; return before the last ferry.
In Orford, visit the village and Orford Castle if open. In Aldeburgh, walk the seafront instead of trying to revisit the ferry-only Ness.

BEFORE YOU CHOOSE
No. The Trust requires advance booking for a timed outbound ferry and may turn away visitors without a reservation. Tickets are released on a rolling basis and can sell out.
No. The Trust says the only visitor access is its ferry Octavia from Orford Quay; there is no permitted pedestrian entry from Slaughden.
The Trust recommends at least three to four hours. Its main visitor route is about 7.5 kilometres, and visitors must catch the last return ferry.
There is no parking on Orford Quay. Use the pay-and-display Riverside car park on Quay Street, about 150 yards from the Quay, then reach the Trust office at least 15 minutes before your sailing.
No. The Trust warns that ferry boarding involves steps that can be slippery with the tide. Main routes are mostly level once across, and an advance-bookable Tramper is available; speak to the property about your needs.
