More about staying near Snowshill Manor and Garden

Snowshill Manor is Charles Wade’s highly personal collection staged inside a hillside Cotswold house, with a separate formal garden and Priest’s House. Broadway is the straightforward base for the signed road approach; Chipping Campden suits a wider Cotswolds walking break. The manor is not in either town centre, and the Trust warns that satnav may stop in Snowshill village rather than at the visitor car park.

FIND YOUR BASE

Choose a Cotswold base for Snowshill Manor

Broadway

Broadway is the practical nearby village base: the Trust signs the road to the manor from Broadway village green.

Good for: A short Cotswold-country drive with a Broadway evening.

Before you choose: The site is 2.5 miles uphill from the village; local taxis are limited.

Chipping Campden

Chipping Campden offers a different Cotswold market-town evening and a wider walking break, with Snowshill as a planned excursion.

Good for: A two-town Cotswolds stay with independent walking time.

Before you choose: It is farther from the manor than Broadway and requires separate transport.

ROOM FOR YOUR NEXT TRIP

Researched accommodation shortlist

A Broadway hotel and a Chipping Campden inn make genuinely different base towns; both require a rural final leg.

Hotel · Broadway

The Lygon Arms

A Broadway High Street hotel for the closest town evening before the signed rural approach to Snowshill.

  • Courtyard Classic rooms are described on the ground floor.
  • King or twin beds can be requested.
  • This category is not air-conditioned.

Before you book: Confirm the complete access route, occupancy and any extra bed: the page lists a two-person maximum alongside a sofa-bed feature. Check leisure sessions, family rules and parking directly rather than resolving that conflict by assumption.

Inn · Chipping Campden

The Noel Arms

A Chipping Campden High Street inn for a wider Cotswolds town-and-walk weekend.

  • The first-floor family room has an open-plan bunk annex for two children up to 13.
  • Cosy rooms are on the first floor.
  • Classic Courtyard rooms are across the courtyard from the main building.

Before you book: Confirm beds, access and parking. Any spa package uses sister property Cotswold House, not a spa inside this inn; its operator lists a September 2026 closure, so check before booking around it.

Make it your kind of break

ROMANTIC BREAKS

Make room for Wade’s theatrical interiors

Tour the collections before the garden terraces and Priest’s House, then return to a Broadway or Chipping Campden evening. The longer Littleworth circuit is a separate walking priority.

FAMILY BREAKS

Use the grounds after the collection

Keep the manor and garden visit central, then allow time for the model village at Wolf’s Cove and outdoor space. The 3.5-mile Littleworth route is challenging, not a quick family add-on.

A LITTLE ROOM TO EXPLORE

A collection-filled Cotswolds weekend

Order the day around the manor’s earlier last entry, then decide whether a hill walk fits.

  1. Arrive in a Cotswold town

Explore Broadway High Street or Chipping Campden before dinner. Set the visitor car park rather than the village centre as the next day’s destination.

  2. See Wade’s manor and garden

Reach visitor reception early enough for house admission. Explore the themed collection rooms, Priest’s House and garden, using the buggy if the hill approach is unsuitable.

  3. Take a contrasting Cotswold outing

Use Broadway’s village and nearby walking country, or stroll Chipping Campden’s historic centre. Strong walkers can give the Snowshill-to-Littleworth Wood circuit its own half-day.

Less time? With one night, choose the manor, garden and one town evening. Do not combine the challenging Littleworth circuit with a late house arrival.

BEFORE YOU CHOOSE

A few useful details

Will satnav take me to the entrance?

The Trust says satnav can lead to Snowshill village centre. From Broadway follow brown signs to the visitor car park rather than stopping in the village.

How far is the manor from parking?

The Trust puts the car park about 500 yards from the manor and garden on a hilly approach. A passenger buggy runs between the cafe and manor; ask on arrival.

Is the house open late in the day?

No. The Trust lists earlier last admission to the manor than the wider property, with even earlier cutoffs in late October and November 2026. Arrive for the house before a long walk.

Can I walk from Broadway?

The nearest regular bus stop is in Broadway and the Trust describes the 2.5-mile onward route as an energetic walk. Local taxis are limited, so book transport ahead if needed.

Can I bring a dog through the formal garden?

Only assistance dogs enter the manor and formal gardens. Dogs on short leads are permitted in listed outer areas, including the orchards and lawns in front of the manor.
