Speke Hall’s black-and-white Tudor house sits among gardens and woodland on Liverpool’s southern edge. Staying at the airport puts the house near a travel-day base; Liverpool city centre gives a stronger evening choice and a separate journey south. House opening is narrower than the everyday grounds calendar, so choose the date before booking for the interiors.
The Liverpool Georgian Quarter hotel suits a city evening with Speke Hall reached as a separate southbound trip.
King rooms can have a superking or twin beds.
The King room page describes a shower over the bath.
Studio rooms and family arrangements are available.
Before you book: Confirm the actual extra beds and children’s ages. Ask separately about spa access; named suites with outdoor spa baths are not standard rooms.
A Georgian Quarter hotel for a stay shaped by the cathedrals, cultural venues and a local evening. It provides a different Liverpool base from Stanley Dock.
Compare Liverpool’s Georgian Quarter and Stanley Dock stays, with clear distinctions between the city’s different waterfront areas.
Make it your kind of break
FAMILY BREAKS
Separate house and outdoor play
Use a whole-property ticket for the rooms and Home Farm play area; if the mansion is closed, make it a garden-and-estate outing.
ROMANTIC BREAKS
A Tudor house with a city evening
See the timber-framed rooms and a garden walk, then return to Liverpool city centre for dinner rather than expecting evening access to the estate.
A LITTLE ROOM TO EXPLORE
A Speke Hall and Liverpool stay
Choose a day when the Tudor rooms are open, then fit the garden visit around your Liverpool or airport stay.
Arrive in Speke or Liverpool
Airport-side visitors can combine travel and the hall; city visitors should plan the southbound bus, taxi or road journey.
Visit the Tudor hall
Choose the house-inclusive ticket on a hall-opening day, then add gardens or the published estate walk as conditions allow.
Add one Liverpool stop
From the city base, visit the Royal Albert Dock waterfront; from the airport base, make a separate road outing to the Liverpool waterfront if the travel day allows.
Less time? For one night, keep the hall and garden plus one Liverpool evening; omit the wider estate trail.
BEFORE YOU CHOOSE
A few useful details
When can I see the Tudor house?
The National Trust lists the hall Wednesday to Sunday, 12.30-5pm, from 4 March to 1 November 2026; the gardens and estate are open daily. There is no normal advance booking, but check the date calendar.
Is the grounds ticket enough for the house?
No. The Trust lists separate grounds-only and whole-property tickets. Choose whole-property admission if the hall rooms are your reason for coming.
Does a bus enter the estate?
No bus runs into the grounds. Services toward Liverpool Airport can set you down within about half a mile of the entrance, with another half mile to reception. Liverpool South Parkway and Hunts Cross stations are each about two miles away.
Where should I park?
Follow airport signs and brown Speke Hall signs to The Walk, L24 1XD. Parking is free on site, but the main gate locks at 5pm, so leave the car park by then.
Can everyone use the upper rooms?
The Trust says the upper floor is reached only by stairs; staff may close rooms or the whole first floor at short notice. Check its accessibility guide and current room route if stairs matter.
