Herriots is our comparison on this side of town. Start with your arrival and luggage needs if you are coming by rail, then map the route to your evening plans and the High Street. A convenient arrival can be more valuable than adding facilities you will not use.
Good for: Rail arrivals, one-night stops and visitors spending most of their time out.
Before you choose: Confirm the room’s access route. The operator’s lift provision is limited to the newer wing, so a lift somewhere in the hotel is not enough information.
High Street and the castle end
Use the northern end of the High Street as a reference when the castle is your main reason for coming. Even if you stay elsewhere, decide how often you want to return to the room during a town day before comparing addresses.
Good for: Visitors putting the castle and town browsing ahead of a long excursion.
Before you choose: Our present shortlist does not include a hotel at the castle gate. Check the real route rather than interpreting a town-wide listing as attraction-side accommodation.
Keighley Road and the canal-side approach
The Skipton Hotel offers the contrasting option of a larger hotel beside the canal, outside the central shopping streets. It can suit a stay with more time at the property, provided you deliberately plan the return from town.
Good for: Drivers and visitors comparing room choice with time around the hotel.
Before you choose: Do not assume the canal towpath is your best late-evening or luggage route. Ask about current transport and access; families should also check the leisure age policy before making pool plans.
