The operator says the bunkhouse becomes 18-plus from January 2027; lodge rooms and the family chalet remain child-friendly. Dogs are permitted in private lodge rooms by the stated policy, not in the bunkhouse.

A private Carbost room allows the day to end beside the loch rather than with another long drive. Request the actual room outlook and discuss the pub's music programme if a quiet evening matters.
FAMILY BREAKS
The Old Inn distinguishes private lodge rooms, a family chalet and a bunkhouse; the bunkhouse becomes adults-only in January 2027. At the Bosville, ask about the split-level family room and actual child beds before booking.
A LITTLE ROOM TO EXPLORE
Spend the first evening in Carbost or Portree, give the pools a dedicated walking day, then change the scenery with Glenbrittle's coastal end when the route and season suit.
Settle into the Old Inn's specified private room or the Bosville in Portree. Have dinner and prepare walking layers and provisions before travelling to the glen the next day.
Drive considerately to the managed car park and follow the gravel path and bridges towards the pools. Set a sensible turnaround and keep the outing a walk; entering the cold water is not part of this plan.
On a longer stay, continue the glen's road on a separate outing to the coastal setting by Glenbrittle Campsite. Use its cafe only during the advertised season and confirmed service, or make a shorter scenic stop with your own provisions.
Less time? For one night, favour Carbost and one pools walk in a suitable daylight window. Skip the extra glen outing if weather, traffic or your onward journey would make the day rushed.
BEFORE YOU CHOOSE
The MacLeod Estate says the pools are free to visit. The car park is separately operated by the Outdoor Access Trust for Scotland and charges for parking, so free landscape access does not mean free parking.
The estate describes a gravel path and bridges leading to waterfalls and pools, with the option to continue farther uphill. Choose a turnaround for your fitness and the weather; do not treat a short marked path as permission to continue into the Cuillin without hillwalking preparation.
OATS lists toilets at its managed one-way car park and accepts contactless card, Apple Pay or cash. Bring supplies for the walk and follow the current site instructions rather than relying on a remote refreshment stop.
OATS says the Fairy Pools car park does not accommodate towed caravans and permits vehicles up to eight metres long. Check the vehicle rules before taking the single-track road; passing places are not alternative parking bays.
The estate publishes a season from 1 April to 15 October for Glenbrittle Campsite and Cafe. Treat it as a seasonal stop farther down the glen, check current service, and take food and drink when it is closed.
