Compare Seahouses if you prefer a harbour base or want to look into a Farne Islands boat trip. The Bamburgh Castle Inn is here, despite its name. It provides a different starting point from a hotel in Bamburgh village.
Good for: Visitors making the harbour a central part of a coastal stay.
Before you choose: A sailing is not guaranteed. Check the operator's dates, trip type and conditions, keep a land-based alternative and plan a separate journey for a Bamburgh Castle visit.
Alnwick: castle, gardens and town time
Put Alnwick first if the castle or The Alnwick Garden is the reason for your break. Keeping those visits in the same area lets you give each enough time instead of rushing between the north coast and inland attractions.

What matters for a car-free stay?
Hexham has rail connections on the Tyne Valley Line; for Alnwick, compare the connection from Alnmouth station. Coastal bases need their own onward plan. Map the journey to the actual property and each outing, including the return service, and check dated timetables using Visit Northumberland's transport links before booking.
Can Holy Island be added as a spontaneous detour?
Plan it separately using Northumberland County Council's official safe crossing times for your date. Do not use a generic tide time or another day's schedule. Allow for both the outward and return crossing and follow current local guidance; the causeway cannot be treated as an always-open road.
Are boat trips from Seahouses guaranteed?
No. Check the sailing operator's current programme, sea conditions and whether the trip type you want is offered. Keep a land-based alternative and avoid making a non-refundable overnight choice dependent on one particular sailing.
